Christmas Tree at the crossroads (News Bulletin released by the Ecclian Society)
It is great to see the new Christmas tree with all its baubles and lights adding to the festive feel in Eccleshall.
The project to install a Christmas tree at the crossroads had been discussed by the Ecclian Society and the 1000 strong petition organised by Jayne Ryder and Dee Robinson alerted the Parish Council to the depth of local support. After a feasibility study, the Ecclian Society decided to fund the entire project with the support of the Parish Council. This was a large undertaking costing about £6000.
Support from the following people helped to ensure the success of the project.
Jayne Ryder and Dee Robinson reflected local feeling with their petition.
Richard Egan arranged the manufacture of the mounting pipe for the tree and liaised with the Principal of Bishop Lonsdale C of E Primary Academy to have the baubles decorated.
Miss K Taylor, Principal, Staff and Pupils of the school for the decorated baubles
Mark Law, CBS for the groundworks and his brother-in–law Steve, both now famous on Facebook as Santa and his elf! Joe Gilbert of MicroHire.
Andy Scattergood, ASElectricals for the electrical installation helped by Jake Brown.
Steve Groom, Lewis Howdle Ltd for the project engineering design.
Phil Gammon and Paul Gerrard of Stafford Borough Council for help in obtaining the various necessary licences and permission.
Eccleshall Parish Council for moral support and third party liability insurance going forward. The clerk, Stacey Worden has been particularly helpful in dealing with invoices and documentation.
Many thanks to everybody involved.
And Eccleshall Parish Council would also wish to add their thanks to Mr. Phil Baskerville for all his hard work in making sure the project came to fruition.
