Police
You should always call 999 when it is an emergency, such as when a crime is in progress, someone suspected of a crime is nearby, when there is danger to life or when violence is being used or threatened.
You should call 101 to report crime and other concerns that do not require an emergency response. Examples include car or other theft if it is not in progress, or damage to property. It is important to report crimes to the Police at 101 This will generate a crime number and help the police to get an accurate profile of incidents within the area.
There is now the option to report a crime via the ‘Staffordshire Police’ Facebook and Twitter accounts, by sending them a direct message. This will be logged and dealt with in the same way as a 101 call.
